The nominations for this year’s Mercury Prize have been officially announced.
This year marks a significant change for the award, which celebrates the finest album-length works from British and Irish artists over the past year. Last year, the indie band English Teacher from Leeds won the prize in an intimate ceremony held at the famous Abbey Road studios in London.

This will be the first time the ceremony takes place outside of London, with the event scheduled for October 16th at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle.
