"It is a weighty experience to feel the gravity of existence and pull yourself back to reality..."
American musician Skullcrusher has unveiled her latest track, ‘Dragon.’
Her upcoming album, ‘And Your Song Is Like A Circle,’ is deeply introspective, showcasing Skullcrusher's integration of diverse concepts into her artistry.
She has confirmed plans for an intimate performance in New York, with the album set to be released on October 17th.
The track ‘Dragon,’ now available, is intricately crafted; the elements come together harmoniously, and the self-reinforcing structure showcases Skullcrusher's captivating wordplay.
Addressing themes of mental health and the significance of grounding, the songwriter juxtaposes her artistry with the ethereal dreams often found in Studio Ghibli films.
She shares...
I wrote ‘Dragon’ while contemplating dissociation and the experience of being grounded from that state. In Spirited Away, when Chihiro starts to fade away in the spirit realm, she takes Haku's hand, which brings her back, yet she finds herself unable to move her legs. It is a substantial feeling to grapple with the heaviness of existence and return to reality.
I was intrigued by the notion of this being both a burdensome challenge and an essential part of life. It carries elements of hope and fear alike. It's akin to armor; it offers protection but can also feel like a burden, whether emotionally or physically. Safeguarding oneself is a tough endeavor.
Tune in now.
