Jerkcurb makes his return with the new song ‘Larchmont’.
The South London artist released his debut album, ‘Air Con Eden’, in 2019, but then seemed to vanish from the music scene. After taking his time to craft new material, Jerkcurb is now set to unveil a stunning new song.
The announcement comes alongside details of a headline show at London’s EartH Theatre on February 11th, along with promises of more activity to come.
Now available, ‘Larchmont’ reflects on childhood memories revisited during the anxious nights of the pandemic. Bursting with unsettled emotions, the song weaves through various feelings before striving for a powerful resolution.
Jerkcurb shares...
Every summer in my childhood, I would visit my family in Larchmont, a quintessential suburban neighborhood in New York characterized by picket fences and immaculate lawns. I wrote ‘Larchmont’ during the sleepless nights marked by the blur of the Covid-19 pandemic.
I felt unsettled, with a new sense of dread that enveloped the silence and the overwhelming stretch of time. During the day, I learned bossanova songs to create a sense of calm, a distant hot sun in my mind. However, by night, these cheerful chords morphed into darker forms, leading to the creation of ‘Larchmont’. The lyrics portray a conversation between a couple entrapped in a cycle of fear and joy. Larchmont, where I spent my childhood holidays, could symbolize a future sanctuary or merely an escape into a summer memory.
Released through Handsome Dad Records, ‘Larchmont’ is accompanied by a new video directed by Billy Howard Price.
