And reveals plans for her first UK tour...
Muireann Bradley has put her spin on ‘These Days’.
The Irish guitarist was captivated by the song after listening to Nico’s rendition, originally recorded for her 1967 album ‘Chelsea Girls’. The rapid guitar picking immediately resonated with her, but it’s also the lyrics, written by Jackson Browne, that truly speak to the heart.
Muireann quickly learned the song and started including it in her live performances. A crowd favorite, she recently delivered a stellar set at End Of The Road, where ‘These Days’ was naturally featured.
Now available, the song follows her impressive debut album ‘I Kept These Old Blues’, which was first recognized by the independent label Tompkins Square, and later received a wider release from Decca Records.
When discussing ‘These Days’, the Irish musician shares…
I’ve always had an affection for ‘These Days’; I first encountered it in the Wes Anderson film The Royal Tenenbaums and instantly fell in love. I began practicing it at home and more recently incorporated it into my live performances. The audiences have really enjoyed it, so it felt like a natural progression to record it. I adore the lyrics and the finger-picked guitar part by 16-year-old Jackson Browne in the original Nico version. I had to adapt the melody to suit my voice, which is a bit concerning considering the song's beloved status, but I hope everyone enjoys listening to it as much as I enjoy performing it.
Listen in now.
