Queens-based rapper Deem Spencer is set to release a new EP titled ‘Pain & the people around me’ on November 14th through drink sum wtr.
In ‘Pain & the people around me,’ Deem showcases his talent over sharp, vibrant instrumentals, blending genres in a quest for redemption, with heartfelt and crystalline clarity.
“I feel this album represents my clearest sound. It’s the most accurate expression of my vision,” he states. “As an artist, I feel fulfilled. I’ve become a fan of my own work again.”
Alongside the EP announcement, an energized Deem Spencer unveils the single ‘everybody want me but my lover,’ an upbeat track complemented by Will Evans’ inspired trumpet work.
“I kept bringing the beat over to my friend's place,” he shares. “I played it repeatedly, pondering what to say. The hook came to me first, with thoughts of ’50s, ’60s, ’70s classic pop—real gay, cocaine music. This song is special, and I hope many people get to hear it.”
The upcoming EP follows his 2019 album ‘Pretty face,’ the coming-of-age LP ‘adultSW!M,’ and two “one producer, no features” EPs released in 2024 and 2025, harking back to the bold, instinctual simplicity of his DIY roots.
