British artist Naomi Scott has released her new single, ‘Cherry’ – a preview of her debut album set to be released next year.
Expanding the narrative of her musical journey beyond her film career, ‘Cherry’ follows earlier introductory singles: ‘Rhythm’ and ‘Cut Me Loose’.
Regarding the Lido-produced tracks, which embrace the euphoric house vibes reminiscent of late ’90s Janet Jackson, Naomi expresses:
“The song has several interpretations, but the common thread connecting them is ‘patience is key’—in intimacy, relationships, life, and being assured in expressing your needs. I believe that’s mirrored in the sonic direction we chose: confident, soulful, sexy, fun, and joyful.”
In July of this year, Naomi showcased her new music on the North American stage with her debut festival performance at Lollapalooza, drawing one of the largest crowds of the day. The dynamic set featured a guest appearance by Johnny Yukon, where they performed their latest single ‘Rhythm’, along with a special rendition of ‘She’s So Gone’ from the popular film Lemonade Mouth.
‘Cherry’ is accompanied by a self-directed visual that captures the essence of a late-summer London. Filmed in Wormwood Scrubs, West London, it features the inclusive football team Shepherd’s Booters FC, as a tribute to the classic British film, Bend It Like Beckham.
