A song exploring the enduring nature of love…
Art School Girlfriend has released a new single titled ‘L.Y.A.T.T.’ – listen to it now.
This project is led by London-based artist Polly Mackey, who debuted with a self-produced EP on Paul Epworth’s Wolf Tone label in 2017.
Since that time, she has developed a remarkable discography, blending the synth-pop framework with club influences, distorted guitars, and an insightful lyrical approach.
Now available, ‘L.Y.A.T.T.’ begins with haunting, shoegaze-inspired guitars, creating a gothic ambiance reminiscent of The Cure. A techno beat arises, blending the tension and release characteristic of club culture with Polly’s lyrical reflections.
Anchored by love – its constancy and renewal – ‘L.Y.A.T.T.’ showcases Art School Girlfriend at her most introspective and impactful.
She remarks…
‘L.Y.A.T.T.’ reflects on the endurance of love during periods of emotional or physical separation and difficulty. It serves as a steadfast declaration for moments when life feels burdensome. This new music was written, recorded, and produced by me in my own studio, allowing for a more profound, introspective process to explore emotional and sonic territories I had yet to delve into.
