      Being labeled a 'hyped' band can be a double-edged sword, particularly for groups with an average member age under 25. Following the release of 2023’s ‘3D Country’ and the acclaim for frontman Cameron Winter’s solo album ‘Heavy Metal’, Geese have been recognized as the potential successors to New York’s indie-rock scene. The arrival of their new track ‘Getting Killed’ confirms that this recognition is well-deserved. Working with producer Kenneth Blume (also known as Kenny Beats), Geese have transformed their art-influenced dad-rock into a sound that is both exploratory and distinctly progressive. The quartet showcases their experimental side through the deep basslines and unexpected brass elements in ‘Trinidad’, as well as the flowing guitar riffs and drum breaks in the title track. At the core of every piece lies a deliberate attention to songwriting. Despite its adventurous and varied nature, ‘Getting Killed’ is still balanced and ultimately enjoyable. ‘100 Horses’ channels ’70s stadium rock with its bluesy attitude and anti-war themes, while the latter half of the album presents the quirky brightness and sing-along charm of ‘Au Pays du Cocaine’ and ‘Taxes’, culminating in the spirited energy of ‘Long Island City Here I Come’. This is a meticulously crafted and expansive work from a group of young musicians who are genuinely maturing.
