Another glimpse of her upcoming album...
Norwegian artist Jouska has released her new track ‘California’.
Her latest album, titled ‘How Did I End Up Here?’, will be available on October 17th, reflecting on some difficult periods in her life. By channeling these feelings into her music, Jouska finds a certain level of catharsis.
Consider the new song ‘California’. Written on the West Coast of the United States, it captures feelings of alienation and loneliness, articulating a profound sense of frustration.
However, by the conclusion, there’s a hint of hope, as if the act of writing the song and identifying those feelings provided her with a release.
Jouska shares…
Everything was falling apart. I was utterly exhausted—physically, emotionally, and mentally. I had been working tirelessly, barely keeping up, and I felt more disconnected than ever. Arriving in LA marked the first time I had left Europe. I had never experienced a time zone change like that, nor had I seen such sunrises. In LA, it seemed I could momentarily escape myself. Everything felt peaceful and joyous. The chaos in my mind quieted, and I encountered people who welcomed me without expecting anything in return. Some became close friends. It felt like a chance to start anew, or at least to breathe. My relationship with the U.S. is complex, especially now. There are many aspects that challenge me, and much I still do not fully grasp. Yet that initial visit left a lasting impression. It offered me space when I had nothing left to give—a strange sense of tranquility amidst the turmoil.
