FLO Shines at London’s O2 Academy Brixton

As Cynthia Erivo mentions in the intro to the Access All Areas album, FLO are “a tenacious trio of talented young ladies,” and at their sold-out London performance at O2 Academy Brixton, they certainly lived up to that description.

The evening began with rising talent Sekou, whose smooth and soulful vocals, along with his effortless charm, quickly captivated the audience. Recently featured on Justin Bieber’s latest album and a Central Cee track, Sekou felt like a contemporary revival of Motown—warm, groovy, and energetic. His act was the ideal prelude to FLO, establishing a high standard for stage presence and audience engagement.

When FLO took the stage to kick off with ‘AAA', the O2 Brixton Academy erupted. From the very first beat, Jorja, Renée, and Stella radiated magnetism. Their stage presence was both confident and natural, capturing attention without seeming forced. Their harmonies landed with precision, each voice distinct yet perfectly aligned, creating a sound that was polished, sophisticated, and immediately captivating. Even during the more dynamic sections, their vocals remained impeccable—a testament to the fact that FLO are not merely performers, but talented musicians.

The group’s performance skillfully balanced high-energy, choreography-heavy songs with more intimate, stripped-back moments that showcased their vocal range and emotional depth. FLO clearly flourished during live performances, and the devoted crowd of “Flolifers” exhibited their love and support for the group during their homecoming show.

FLO’s ability to blend technical prowess with personality is one of the most remarkable aspects of the night. Confident yet approachable on stage, they engaged with the audience in a way that felt authentic rather than contrived. Their smiles, gestures, and playful banter fostered a sense of shared experience, making every moment feel personal despite the venue's size.

Beyond their vocals and choreography, FLO’s star quality shines through in how they command the stage. Each member brings a unique presence, yet they operate cohesively, moving and performing with an almost instinctual synchronicity. The staging effectively brought their debut album to life, along with hits like ‘Cardboard Box’ and a medley of older tracks, resulting in a show that was both polished and immersive.

FLO’s O2 Academy Brixton performance confirmed that they have far surpassed the “rising act” label. The evening highlighted their numerous strengths—stage command, energetic performances, and undeniable chemistry—solidifying their status as a standout live act and a group poised to shape the next generation of British R&B. By the end of the night, it was clear: FLO is a trio you’ll want to experience live, and they will continue to define the sound and energy of the scene for years to come. They are undoubtedly in their element.
