"We’ve always aimed for our roster to represent a community rather than just a list of unacquainted bands." How do you think being musicians has shaped your approach to running a label? Share some insights on the lessons learned behind the scenes. The timeless truth of “who you know” still holds true in music; with so much competition, having someone in your corner can make a significant difference. You are more likely to check out a band if a friend recommends it rather than just receiving an email from a stranger. Additionally, understanding what not to do is equally crucial. Having made our share of mistakes as a band, we can assist others in avoiding similar pitfalls, which is quite beneficial! What excites you the most about the current independent music scene? The sheer number of amazing bands out there! During the past decade we’ve been active, this feels like the most thrilling time for new music. We’re really excited to be a part of it! If you could reissue any classic album on Church Road, which would it be (and why)? Justine: Deftones - ‘Around The Fur’. It was such a pioneering album that I would have loved to be involved in its release and witness its journey. Sammy: Miles Davis - ‘Bitches Brew’. For me, this iconic album stands as a proto-noise/drone record that has significantly shaped the extreme and avant-garde music scene over the past 20-30 years. I believe many notable artists in our field, like Blood Incantation, Sunn O))), and Full Of Hell (among others), have drawn some influence from this groundbreaking LP. What are you most looking forward to for the remainder of 2025? We still have five diverse and equally thrilling releases lined up for the rest of the year, which I’m very excited about! I’ve also got a few upcoming festivals to attend, and we’re touring with Killswitch across Europe later this year, providing great opportunities for record shopping!
