Swank Mami begins her new chapter with the EP, ‘Worldstar’, set to release on October 29th.
In conjunction with the announcement, the Oslo-born, Somali artist unveils her latest single ‘PLZ’ – an energetic, eclectic anthem influenced by Euro dance and the programmed RnB of her youth.
Regarding the new track, Swank Mami shares: “’PLZ’ is quite an adventurous song for me. I would say it’s the most pop-focused track in this project. It blends influences from kompa music with hard EDM synths that I adore. For me, music is about experimentation, and I take great pride in this song – it’s reserved, memorable, and bold.”
Making her debut in 2023 with the EP, ‘Eurostar’, Swank Mami's rise even led to a guest role in Travis Scott’s film Circus Maximus, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive).
Since then, she has worked with Oscar Scheller (Shygirl, NewJeans, PinkPantheress) and received backing from artists like Arca, Crystallmess, Zara Larsson, and Jim Legxacy, as well as fashion-forward labels Sandy Liang, GANNI, and Poster Girl.
The upcoming EP ‘Worldstar’, mixed by Nathan Boddy (Mura Masa, PinkPantheress), allows Swank Mami to further expand her sound, drawing from a diverse range of global underground genres.
