The legendary rock band The Who concluded their final tour in America over the weekend.
This extensive farewell tour was a remarkable coast-to-coast journey and marks The Who's last performance tour in North America.
The tour wrapped up with a concert at the Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms, California, where the band delivered a powerful 23-song set that highlighted their career.
Starting with the classic 60s track ‘I Can’t Explain’, the performance journeyed through their Mod art-pop phase, 70s stadium rock, and their contemporary music.
The set included beloved hits like ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’, and the second-to-last song was 1971’s ‘The Song Is Over’, followed by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend coming together for ‘Tea & Theatre’ from their 2006 album ‘Endless Wire’.
The tour featured a new drummer, as longtime percussionist Zac Starkey departed earlier this year amid some controversy.
Guitarist Pete Townshend became emotional while speaking to the audience: “I suppose, you know, it’s goodbye,” he shared. “That’s what it is. For what we know as The Who, it’s goodbye. What Roger and I will do next, who knows? If we stick around long enough, I’m sure we’ll find ourselves getting into all sorts of trouble.”
“We’ll collaborate on some projects, I’m sharing various things. But for events like this, it’s goodbye. And you were the last!”
Vocalist Roger Daltrey expressed gratitude to the fans: “Thank you so much for your support throughout the years. It means a lot to us. Every band in the '60s dreamed of making it in America. And thanks to you, you made that happen for us. Thank you!”
