Beverly Glenn-Copeland has announced the upcoming release of his new album, ‘Laughter In Summer.’
The transgender musician and activist received widespread recognition for his 2023 album ‘The Ones Ahead’ and collaborated with Sam Smith on a new version of ‘Ever New’ the following year.
‘Laughter In Summer’ is set to come out on February 6th via Transgressive. This album is a collaborative project fueled by the love shared between Beverly and his partner, eco-poet and theater actor, Elizabeth Copeland.
The album begins with ‘Let Us Dance (Movement One)’, a track that Beverly describes as “holding deep personal meaning for us as a couple.”
“It’s one of our favorite songs to perform together. It serves as a gentle reminder that life encourages us to express joy through movement, regardless of our circumstances or how challenging the journey may be. Originally featured on Keyboard Fantasies, this choral reimagining includes a newly formed Montreal choir that we met just moments before recording Movement One. It’s raw and authentic – reflecting how we live our lives today.”
Released now, the song is accompanied by another standout track, ‘Children’s Anthem’. This song marks one of their earliest creative collaborations as a couple, written in 2007 for an anti-bullying conference.
“We’re reviving it for this new album with a fresh arrangement dedicated to our beloved granddaughter Freya. We hope it acts as a call to action to support and safeguard all children around the globe. In a time when violence is rampant, this song and its message are more vital than ever.”
Beverly Glenn-Copeland will embark on a UK tour this Autumn, with a performance scheduled at London’s Hackney Empire on October 15th.
