Robbie Williams has revealed that he delayed the release of his ‘BRITPOP’ album to steer clear of competing with Taylor Swift on the charts.

The English artist recently performed at an intimate concert at Dingwalls in London, where he played his solo debut ‘Life Through A Lens’ in its entirety and showcased tracks from his forthcoming album ‘BRITPOP’.

Originally scheduled for this month, the album's release has been postponed to February, as Robbie sought to avoid a clash with Taylor Swift.

In a conversation with BBC Radio 1 presenters Rickie Haywood-Williams, Melvin Odoom, and Charlie Hedges, he confessed that he had self-interested reasons for the delay—he is currently tied with The Beatles for 15 No. 1 albums and is eager to surpass that milestone.

With Taylor Swift's ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ outperforming the combined sales of the UK Top 30, Robbie wants to secure a clear path to the top position.

“I’m still a big deal, but I can’t compete with that one,” he joked. “So I’ve shifted it. I’ve moved it a little bit.”

“It’s an alternate reality I enter when I think about my career and that specific record,” he stated. “But I’ll take it. Don’t get me wrong; I’m really competitive too, which is why I postponed the album. I desperately want that achievement.”

Robbie Williams’ upcoming album ‘BRITPOP’ is now set to release on February 6th.

He also participated in the Radio 1 staple Live Lounge, where Robbie performed his classic solo track ‘Old Before I Die’ and chose to cover Wet Leg’s ‘Chaise Longue’.
