UK pop icon Melanie C will be releasing her new album, 'Sweat', on May 1st.
As a true legend in the industry, Melanie C aims to reconnect with her club roots for her ninth studio album. Growing up in Liverpool, she frequently attended breakbeat and house raves, which have consistently influenced her creative outlook.
In 2018, Melanie C had the opportunity to DJ at the famed queer club night Sink The Pink, a transformative experience that reignited her enthusiasm for club culture.
Now a familiar face at Ibiza venues like Pacha and Café Mambo, she has integrated this inspiration into her music. Scheduled for release on May 1st via Virgin Music Group, 'Sweat' embodies a message of positivity: "Given the numerous horrific events in the world, making pop and dance music can seem almost inappropriate. However, music is what helps me navigate difficult times. I'm thrilled to be releasing a joyful album during such a dark period."
The new single (and title track) 'Sweat' features an interpolation of Diana Ross’s 'Work That Body', merging two of her greatest passions – club culture and fitness.
“Sports, raving, and joy are integral to my identity,” she elaborates. “What resonates in the club also resonates in the gym – there's a significant crossover.”
The album was recorded in London, Stockholm, and LA, and focuses on themes of joy – catch Melanie C live at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on October 23rd, 2026.
