It's set to release on February 13th...
Hemlocke Springs has announced the upcoming launch of her debut album, 'The Apple Tree Under the Sea.'
The Nigerian-American artist has a strong emotional connection to her craft and has patiently awaited the moment to release her first LP.
Scheduled for February 13th, ‘The Apple Tree Under the Sea’ is infused with rich emotion and a sense of experience, as Hemlocke Springs reflects on her religious upbringing while also delving into her journey of self-discovery.
“I grew up very religiously—Christianity is a significant aspect of Nigerian culture and the Black community—and I was always obedient to my elders,” Hemlocke shares. “This album begins with a character journeying through the desert, stating, ‘I’m going to do your will.’ They could be addressing God or a man, but then they encounter the apple. It’s about me existing in a bubble, realizing that being in that bubble was more challenging than I anticipated, and finally breaking free to discover my true self.”
Utilizing her songwriter experience, the album is now available for pre-order, led by the new single ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees, And Ankles.’
With a gentle touch, it serves as a soft and nuanced introduction to her bedroom pop realm, highlighted by bursts of clear melody.
Tune in now.
