Foo Fighters are back with a new single titled ‘Asking For A Friend’.
The American band returned to perform live five weeks ago, featuring Ilan Rubin on drums. This has been a tumultuous time for Foo Fighters following the loss of Taylor Hawkins, with frontman Dave Grohl publicly admitting to fathering a child outside of his marriage.
The new single ‘Asking For A Friend’ brings them back to their roots, showcasing powerful rock music infused with style and melody. It’s a prime example of the grand songwriting that only Foo Fighters can achieve.
This track represents a moment of reconnection—not just with their fans, but also with one another—accompanied by an extensive, deeply personal message from Dave Grohl.
Foo Fighters are set to embark on a full North American tour next year, with further details to follow.
Listen to the single below and take a moment to read Dave Grohl’s statement.

Since our return to the stage in San Luis Obispo five weeks ago, we have been reminded of why we cherish and are eternally committed to this Foo Fighters journey. From reuniting as a band and reviewing a list of 30 years of songs to bring back, to reimagining these tracks with the incredible talents of Ilan Rubin on drums, to reconnecting with our wonderful fans and giving them everything we have (regardless of venue size) because we owe it all to them, we truly have a strong foundation. The sun is finally beginning to rise on the horizon.
What better way to share this moment than with close friends?
In 1992, I had the pleasure of seeing the legendary Kyuss perform at the Off Ramp in Seattle, where I met Mr. Josh Homme. The band was connected to a friend, and soon their album Blues for the Red Sun became the soundtrack of that summer. Now, 33 years later and with many experiences behind us, I have shared some of my most fulfilling musical moments with my dear friend Josh—a bond that transcends the music we've created together. So it brings me great joy to embark on this next chapter alongside his extraordinary band, Queens of the Stone Age.
Take cover.
However, none of this would feel complete without new music from Pat, Nate, Chris, Rami, Ilan, and myself. ‘Asking for a Friend’ is a song for those who have patiently endured in the cold, holding on to hope and faith as they await their horizon. It’s about seeking ‘proof’ while clinging to a wish until the sun shines once more.
This is just one of many songs to come...
