Fans are the heart of the music industry. They provide essential support to emerging artists, celebrate their achievements, and spread positivity about them. Whether it’s the kid at the merch stand buying their first t-shirt, the fan at the barrier ensuring they have the perfect view, or the person at home engaging with the action via social media, these supporters are vital in understanding the music landscape of 2025. Ultimately, we identify as fans above all else.
Spotify’s Fan Life campaign seeks to delve deeper into this concept. Through two parts, this global initiative highlights the movement, sound, and community spirit of fan cultures, focusing on fandoms surrounding a diverse range of artists from Charli XCX and Sleep Token to Lil Uzi Vert and Pitbull.
In collaboration with Spotify, CLASH has gathered three representatives from influential UK fandoms: three young individuals with unique perspectives on being a music enthusiast in 2025. Neesha has come from Sheffield, where she manages CentralCee_Media, an Instagram fan account boasting over 600,000 followers. James resides in rural Lincolnshire and heads the official Yungblud Discord channel, which serves as the core of the British star’s Black Hearts Club. Hailing from Brighton, Megan operates CreepyCrawlerHQ, a safe space for fans of the Warrington alt group The Crawlers.
By allowing these three music fans to share their experiences, CLASH invites you to perceive 21st-century fandom through the lens of those championing it.
“You get to meet so many new people and create a sense of community with others who love the same artist as you,” Megan reflects. “It’s such a wonderful experience.”
BEXBLU:
BexBlu will be joining us to deliver an exceptional DJ set.
If you were to trace the roots of grime music, Bexleyheath might not immediately stand out as a notable area. From the rise of Dizzee and Wiley in Bow to BBK’s influence in North London, this South East London suburb has typically been an observer in the evolution of what’s arguably the most significant export of UK rap music.
“It’s a place in London that doesn’t really feel like London,” BexBlu shares with CLASH. At just 20 years old, this producer and artist has breathed new life into the grime genre through his remixes and reinterpretations of classic freestyles, honoring the sound that has its foundations in jungle music from over twenty years ago, even as its relevance has fluctuated. His stage name, which nods to both his hometown and a non-alcoholic beer, was initially adopted to obscure his age when he started posting his music on SoundCloud at the age of 14.
At only 20, BexBlu has already made a significant impact in a brief period, establishing himself as both an artist and a producer and deriving enjoyment from both pursuits. His highlight moments include receiving recognition from Drake and having Skepta freestyle over his tracks, as well as creating in the studio with artists he admires. BexBlu may just be the most remarkable producing talent to emerge from our scene in recent years.
