French alt-pop artist Clara Kimera has released her new single, ‘Eye 2 Eye’.
This marks her first new music since her debut solo project, ‘Dial 8’. ‘Eye 2 Eye’ evokes the sparkling electro-pop of 2010s Robyn, delving into the space between life and death.
A lifelong fan of the Sims game, Kimera engaged with the life simulation video game to independently direct the visual in a distinctly quirky Sims fashion.
Discussing her passion for the game and the visual's inspiration, Kimera explains:
“I’ve played the Sims since childhood and have always enjoyed crafting stories within the game, often in a cinematic style. The visual opportunities are boundless, and I’ve always felt like the director of my own feature. While in middle school, I maintained a blog that reimagined MTV shows in the Sims, such as Room Raiders, Made, and Pimp My Ride, allowing readers to vote for their favorites in real time. At a later point, I aimed to create a more fantastical, medieval film. In trying to portray sword fights and introduce a dragon into my narrative, I stumbled upon the amazing world of mods. Mods are created by players who add new content to the game and share it freely, fostering a vast community of talented creators globally.”
Clara gained recognition as a musician through Agar Agar, a duo she co-founded with Armand Bultheel during their studies at the École nationale supérieure d’arts de Cergy. Following the release of their second album last year, Clara redefined her identity as a solo artist.
Adopting the name Clara Kimera—drawing from the manga Hunter x Hunter and the concept of a chimera—she embarks on this new creative journey.
