Strobe Lights – ELUNIA
The artist reveals, “It felt like a badge of honor to be overworked, to show signs of fatigue. I attempted to convince myself I was okay, but I realized I was distancing myself from my younger self—the one who made music simply to experience something genuine.”
“I wish that I could rest
dislodge it from my chest
I wish that I could go back
to the summers of the past”
In “Strobe Lights,” ELUNIA expands her sound into broader, textural realms. The production embraces a haunting ambiance, featuring delicate electronics, soft percussion, and an echoing atmosphere that remains uncluttered. Nuanced elements emulate water drops and urban nighttime sounds, subtly reflecting her relocation to London and the sensory overload that came with it.
“I know that I should say that I’m fine
circles underneath my eyes
like a prize
like a disguise”
Vocally, ELUNIA delivers a soft, controlled, almost ethereal performance, enhanced by layered harmonies that shine without overshadowing the overall arrangement. It’s a thoughtful balance where her voice integrates into the soundscape instead of dominating it, creating an intimate atmosphere. Distant birdsong gracefully concludes the track, slowly fading out, possibly symbolizing the essence of burnout, becoming a mere shadow of oneself.
“What happens when you give yourself time
but you’re slipping in decline?
it’s a grind
it’s a tough ride”
