The folk-rock band Ugly, consisting of six members, has announced that they will be releasing their debut album next year, titled ‘The South Facade’. This will be their first album after their 2024 EP ‘Twice Around The Sun’, and similarly to that project, it will blend their choral influences with experimental and textured post-rock soundscapes. The album was recorded in Wales before the Cambridge-based band traveled to London to collaborate with Balázs Altsach, a production assistant with experience working with artists like Blur, Pulp, and Arlo Parks at Paul Epworth’s Church Studios. The lead single from the album is ‘Gallowine’, which the band has called “one of the most hard-hitting tracks” on the record. They added: “‘Gallowine’ originated from the last week of writing for the album and has quickly become a favorite to perform live. It incorporates many elements that define our sound: whimsical lyrics, intertwining guitars, and ambitious harmonies—just a few motifs we delve into in the song. While it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact meaning of the song, it carries a sense of the fantastical, shifting between heroic celebration and chaotic descent.” Listen to it below.
This is their first release since the ‘Isotope’ EP from last year.
She has also released a new single titled 'Bruised Sky,' produced by Jordan Fish.
The compilation project includes the band’s latest releases along with two new songs.
The guaranteed dance floor hit 'Damaged Goods' is our initial glimpse into the duo's new project fueled by their hard work.
The precise release date is yet to be confirmed, but we understand that the LP will be released next year.
