The band is performing at London's Corsica Studios tonight...
Whitelands has released an evocative video for their new single ‘Songbird (Forever)’.
Originating from London's DIY underground scene, Whitelands has transitioned from a punk-inspired noise pop to a more expansive, radiant sound akin to shoegaze.
Their upcoming album ‘Sunlight Echoes’ is set to be released on January 30th, while the current single ‘Songbird (Forever)’ delivers an instant melodic experience.
This song features poignant songwriting that celebrates connection. "It’s about my friends, the significant people in my life, and my spirit," shares vocalist Etienne. "I was experiencing a very dark period, but love is such a powerful force. I am surrounded by many incredible people who support me, so I pushed myself to my limits. Every day was a battle, but I wanted to prevail."
As they prepare to perform at London’s Corsica Studios tonight – November 20th – the band has shared a stunning video to complement the track.
‘Songbird (Forever)’ is a piece of music to be fully appreciated; it gains a pure essence from its accompanying video, featuring Etienne and Vanessa at East Sussex's Seven Sisters cliffs, which are mentioned in the lyrics.
"When we first recorded this track, listening back was emotional. There was a lump in my throat when the first chorus came in, even before the strings were added,” says bassist Vanessa Govinden. “I’m so grateful that James (Iskra Strings) reached out when he did, as he enhanced the entire song.”
