Trans-Atlantic duo Still Blank have released their debut album, which is self-titled.
The duo has faced challenges including deportation, the complexities of the UK’s visa system, and issues with synthesizers to arrive at this point, after recording sessions at producer Joel Pott’s family cabin in Wales.
During the harsh Welsh winter, Still Blank experimented with the producer’s collection of analogue synthesizers, gradually honing their songwriting.
Their standout track ‘Dead And Gone’ features lyrics drawn from a poem written by member Jordy years earlier, with Still Blank blending past and present influences to shape their sound.
They often revisited their initial demo recordings, resulting in a raw and slightly unfinished quality.
Released now, Still Blank’s debut album showcases the duo's growth. Jordy explains:
This was a transformative time in our lives, which is evident throughout the album. Some tracks were created when we first met, others on opposite sides of the globe while dealing with separation, and some emerged in less than a day after we initially thought we had completed the record. The creation of this album felt fortuitous—starting with our chance meeting and leading to the discovery of like-minded collaborators who believed in us and allowed experimentation without external pressure.
Currently on a major European tour supporting Royel Otis, Still Blank will have their debut London headline performance at The Social on December 4th.
