Following their three Grammy nominations last month, Wet Leg has released the new video for ‘pokemon’ today.
The members of Wet Leg include Rhian Teasdale, Hester Chambers, Ellis Durand (bass), Henry Holmes (drums), and Joshua Mobaraki (guitar, synth).
CLASH praised the band’s second album ‘moisturizer’, launched earlier this year, stating that the 12-track album is “punchier, prettier, and more playfully perverse… it will undoubtedly help Wet Leg maintain their reputation as one of Britain’s most distinctive bands.”
‘moisturizer’, which follows the band’s immensely popular debut album from 2022, explores love songs in various forms—stressed, sentimental, unapologetically passionate, joyous, obsessive, and enigmatic. In ‘pokemon’, Teasdale expresses a wide range of emotions within its three-and-a-half-minute duration.
The video, directed by Elliott Arndt of Faux Real—who often supports Wet Leg on tour—depicts a story of a character (played by Alice Longyu Gao) engaged in a unique relationship with a giant egg, perfectly aligning with Wet Leg's surreal aesthetic.
Wet Leg has recently concluded their UK & Ireland headline tour, which included an electrifying performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The band is set to return to the US later this month for more live performances.
