As Eurovision organizers convene to make their final decision...
A recent poll indicates that 82% of people in Britain want Israel to be excluded from the Eurovision Song Contest.
Israel's ongoing participation in the Song Contest has stirred controversy, especially after Russia was disqualified following its invasion of Ukraine.
The circumstances in the Middle East have drawn parallels to this issue, with numerous protestors claiming that Israel should also be banned from the competition. In response, Israeli officials have stated that there is no justification for such a move.
As the Eurovision executives meet today – December 4th – to reach a conclusion, the poll shows that 82% of British respondents believe Israel should be excluded.
If Israel is allowed to participate, a significant 69% of Brits feel that the UK should withdraw from the contest; nearly three-quarters further claimed that allowing Russia to be banned while permitting Israel is inconsistent.
The poll was conducted by Pablo O’Hana, utilizing a sample of 1,093 individuals in a way that is representative of the national demographic.
Pablo O’Hana, a well-known Eurovision enthusiast, commented: “Eurovision is not solely about music and performance – it represents values. If Israel is allowed to compete, then the people of Britain believe we should distance ourselves from it. The BBC needs to stand firm before entering today's meeting.”
Yuval Raphael represented Israel at Eurovision 2025.
