Peter Gabriel Reveals Upcoming Album ‘o/i’

Peter Gabriel will unveil his new album ‘o/i’ later this year.

The music icon is evidently in a creative phase, as his recent ‘i/o’ project has been released track by track in 2025, with each piece released in connection with a Full Moon.

The first Full Moon of 2026 will occur on January 3rd – this weekend – prompting Peter Gabriel to start fresh with a clean slate.

His new album ‘o/i’ is finished, having been created at Real World Studios in Bath and The Beehive in London.

The full album is set to be released later this year, with the lead single ‘Been Undone’ naturally dropping on January 3rd, coinciding with the peak of the Full Moon.

In a note to introduce the album, Peter Gabriel states:

I’m thrilled to announce that tonight, at the full moon, we will commence another year of full moon releases under the title oi.

The tracks encompass a variety of thoughts and emotions. I’ve been contemplating the future and our responses to it. We are entering a unique transitional period, likely prompted by three significant waves: AI, quantum computing, and the brain-computer interface. Artists have a responsibility to peer into the unknown, and when they glimpse something, to reflect it back.

These tracks represent my imperfections – i/o: the inside has a new way out, and oi: the outside has a new way in.

We are not, and have never been, entirely self-determined, independent beings roaming our world. We are something different, a part of nature and everything around us; cultivating connections, moving to the music, and sharing love can help us discover our place – and bring us joy.

Some of these songs will be included in the brain project I’ve been working on for several years, while others simply bring me happiness. I hope you enjoy them.
