"Black artists are exploited..."
Lancey Foux has released a new single titled ‘Eagle Eye’.
The rapper has had a busy year, working harder than many to create a new underground space for diverse voices. However, there seems to be a feeling that Lancey hasn’t received the recognition he deserves, which is highlighted in his latest track.
The new single ‘Eagle Eye’ makes a strong statement about his value, with Lancey Foux employing sharp production and gritty, cold beats to convey his message. The sound carries a sense of darkness, while the lyrics oscillate between asserting his claim to the throne – “before you disrespect the house you gotta pay the mortgage off” – and calling out Lippy, Sincere Lizzy, and others.
His flows are unyielding, as Lancey re-establishes his standing as one of the most technically proficient rappers in the industry. He raps: “Spotify tricked you, this game ain’t a skill issue, the blogs and the brands on residual, your monthly listeners rising, but why is the money missing you? I could cry a river, but £0.0 won’t buy a tissue…”
The song concludes with a powerful sample of a speech Michael Jackson delivered at a press conference – “Black artists are being exploited…”
