Just for One Night!: Edward from Jedward arranges his ideal concert.

One half of everyone’s favorite twins shares his vision for the perfect night out.

      16th December 2025

Each month, we invite a different Very Special Guest Star to design their ideal concert for our latest print magazine. For our December 2025 / January 2026 edition, we had the pleasure of hosting Edward from Jedward - yes, you read that correctly, THE Jedward - on DIY’s prestigious back page.       Headliners: Zara Larsson, Katy Perry, My Chemical Romance

I’ve really put a lot of thought into this. I was thinking we could turn it into a huge festival, not just a concert! We’d have a J-emo stage - combining emo with Jedward - featuring My Chemical Romance, Simple Plan, Avril Lavigne, and The Veronicas. Then, the ‘serving John’ stage would include Zara Larsson, Charli xcx, Pink Pantheress, and Katy Perry. And, naturally, Jedward would be making appearances here and there between performances. We’re currently really into Zara Larsson. She mentioned in an interview that spending a week with us could lift anyone’s depression. She’s been around for so long and has so many hits; she’s like an undiscovered treasure. Before, she seemed more like a product of her record label, but now people are actually getting to know her personally. I feel that she has established her own identity now.

      Supports: CMAT, Inhaler, Kneecap

We would also feature an Irish stage! Many people think of us as just a pop band, but we’ve sparked a conversation in Ireland that wasn’t there before. The music scene used to be very serious: it was either The Cranberries or U2, or you were playing classical music… but right now, the Irish music scene is thriving and gaining international recognition. Its dynamics have shifted drastically. When we started, I genuinely believe our personalities stood out more than our music; we’ve been around for so long that it’s rewarding when fans approach us saying, ‘oh my God, I saw you on a children’s show!’ Many artists on this list are people we’ve met or have connections with: CMAT is incredible, and we supported her while she was working on her latest album. We met Inhaler at their debut gig in LA at The Troubadour when they were just starting out.

      Location: The Pyramids, Egypt

Katy Perry would be performing ‘Dark Horse’ on the Nile. There would be a pyramid for each act to emerge from. We took a family trip to the Pyramids with our mom when we were kids, so we have cherished memories from that visit. I always feel there’s something magical about that place, an indescribable energy… astrology and all that… was it built by aliens? Who knows. We’d add our own twist to The Pyramids, perhaps placing shamrocks on top or adding green dye to the Nile for St. Patrick’s Day. We’re like Mariah Carey during the festive season on St. Patrick’s Day – always in demand! It’s truly our time of year.

      Who are you going with?

Gemma Collins, of course. We’ve shared so many experiences and Christmases together, so she’d definitely bring the energy. I’d bring my mom - she knows how to keep me grounded. Naturally, I’d have to invite John. Ed Sheeran as well, since we’ve had some fantastic nights together; we all enjoy singing Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and those kinds of pop songs at karaoke.

What are you eating or drinking?

Dr Pepper is our top choice right now, so I would go for that, but some lovely cocktails too - maybe something that glows, or a drink that turns your tongue blue, so your tongue glows as well. And of course, mince pies.

      Is there a pre-gig activity?

At festivals, it’s common to have many artists come together, but I’d suggest having a studio on site where they can collaborate and write songs, turning it into more than just a gig. I envisioned a songwriting session happening; there would be an ‘unreleased stage’ where artists could work on new material, then perform what they’ve created.

      Is there an afterparty?

It would take place inside a tomb, perhaps Tutankhamun’s. All the artists would emerge from the pharaoh’s sarcophagus, then grab their microphones and head out. We’d also set up a tattoo parlor that offers hieroglyphic tattoos, but in UV ink, so they would only be visible under specific lighting. It’d be a secret tattoo that says ‘I was there’… almost like being part of a secret society. And naturally, a fireworks display to close out the night.
