Anjimile is set to release a new album titled ‘You’re Free To Go’ on March 13th.
The songwriter's extensive 2023 album ‘The King’ marked a significant breakthrough, showcasing the deepest expression of Anjimile’s artistry to date.
Last year, he re-emerged with the heartfelt single ‘Auld Lang Syne II’, featuring lyrics that celebrated his resilience and hard-won freedom as a Black trans man.
The upcoming album ‘You’re Free To Go’ continues this narrative. Scheduled for release on March 13th and currently available for pre-order, it is led by the single ‘Like You Really Mean It’.
This track explores themes of love, separation, and loyalty, celebrating fundamental truths—such as the importance of attraction, the delight of a kiss, and the recognition of passion. Anjimile reveals: “I wrote this to inspire my girlfriend to kiss me. We live about an hour apart, and I found myself thinking about her and wanting a kiss. What could I do to get a kiss from my sweetheart? Write a song about it! And it worked.”
The song also comes with a music video directed by Caity Arthur—check it out below.
