Bryan Ferry and Amelia Barratt have announced their plans for a new collaborative album titled 'Loose Talk'.
The two artists met at the opening of an art exhibition and quickly realized they shared similar modes of expression. They have maintained contact and have been developing new material together, with their first results emerging last year.
Featured as the finale of Bryan Ferry’s five-disc solo retrospective, ‘Star’ introduced a fresh sound characterized by icy electronics, spoken word elements, and Ferry's exceptional pop vocals.
The upcoming collaborative album ‘Loose Talk’ advances this concept. Set to be released on March 28th, the record is described by Amelia as “a conversation between two artists.”
The album includes eleven texts written by Amelia Barratt, which are musically arranged within Bryan Ferry’s style.
In a statement, Bryan shares…
The entire process of creating ‘Loose Talk’ has brought about a refreshing newness. It feels like it has opened a new chapter in my artistic journey. There’s a powerful atmosphere in Amelia’s work, and I was very aware of the need to not overshadow her words. I hope that together we’ve crafted something that neither of us could achieve individually.
The closest I’ve come to creating pieces like this in the past was perhaps with Roxy Music in tracks like ‘In Every Dream Home A Heartache’ and ‘Mother Of Pearl’. To some degree, those can be seen as spoken monologues. I’m delighted that when we’ve shared ‘Loose Talk’ with audiences, they have remarked, “Oh, this sounds really different.” That’s been my goal with all my work: to be different from what’s been heard or seen before. The essence of being an artist is striving to create something new, to build a new world.
The striking new song ‘Orchestra’ is available now – an audacious, unyielding duet that offers a captivating listening experience.
