Penny and Sparrow have released their newest album ‘Lefty’, available through I Love You / Thirty Tigers.
Offering a sparkling glimpse into the Texas duo’s highly anticipated comeback, the standout track ‘Breakdown’ openly expresses its emotions, showcasing genuine songwriting that embraces its idiosyncrasies. With rich and textured acoustic backing, Penny and Sparrow radiate a captivating allure on a collection that dances between fiction and reality.
Composed of Andy Baxter and Kyle Jahnke, Penny and Sparrow brings a fresh perspective to the indie-folk genre. With a diverse array of influences, including Simon & Garfunkel, Slim Whitman, The Swell Season, and Bon Iver, the duo reveals their most enlightening work to date.
In discussing the project, Penny & Sparrow share: “Lefty is a comprehensive collection of both true and fictional elements. We crafted poetry, true narratives, literary fan fiction, horror stories, erotica, slice-of-life snapshots, dream scenarios, conversations from saloons, elegies, a toast, several confessions, and at least two love letters. They all coexist because each one is a reflection of us and the things we cherish. We are the ties that unify Lefty.”
