Irish artist Beano seizes his opportunity with new EP ‘Trap #7’.
This hip-hop artist plays a significant role in Dublin’s underground music scene, collaborating with some of Ireland’s most sought-after talents. His own music is definitely worth discovering – a sincere storyteller who prefers to carve his own path, Beano brings something unique to the table.
Consider his latest EP. Released now, ‘Trap #7’ channels influences from Buffalo’s Benny The Butcher while also resonating with sounds from across the Atlantic – think Fliptrix, and you’ll be on the right track.
Collaborating with No Venom, who handled all production duties, the duo worked together in a natural way to realize Beano's artistic vision.
The Dublin-based rapper explains that the EP was created “very organically,” with lyrics transitioning from the streets of his city to the hills of Morocco, and back.
Beano shares…
Sonically, the project is cohesive, which is thanks to both No Venom and me. The lyrical content is deeply personal and some of my best work to date – weaving stories and concepts while drawing influences from my childhood as well as current experiences.
Songs like ‘TOUBKAL’ were inspired by reflections on a flight back from Morocco – I thought about my hiking experiences there and my ascent of Toubkal (the highest peak in Morocco). Other tracks, such as the title song ‘TRAP #7,’ evoke childhood memories of watching The Mighty Celt with my father, a film about greyhound racing that sparked my love for dogs. This influence is evident throughout the EP, both in the lyrics and the cover art.
An intriguing look into his creativity, you can listen now.
