It will aid victims of the Los Angeles fires...

A new album titled ‘Los Angeles Rising’ has been released, featuring fresh and previously unheard tracks from artists like Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Jarvis Cocker, and others.

The compilation was put together by Kevin Haskins and Nick Launay, who felt compelled to respond after witnessing the devastation caused by the wildfires in California. With many left without homes, a number of artists and musicians find themselves in dire situations.

‘Los Angeles Rising’ offers fans a chance to assist those in need, comprising 16 new and previously unreleased songs from a variety of well-known artists.

Notable contributions include a remix from Nick Cave’s acclaimed Grinderman project, a stunning piece from PJ Harvey, and intriguingly, a stripped-back rendition of the 60s classic ‘California Dreamin’ by Jarvis Cocker. This poignant interpretation of the Mamas and Papas song was actually recorded by the Pulp frontman in 2020.

Primal Scream has contributed an orchestral version of ‘False Flags’, while U.S. Girls has provided a polished demo, and Flea, Frusciante, Haskins, and DeAngelis collaborated on ‘A System For Shutting Everything Out’.

Kevin Haskins shares, “While the wildfires raged, my neighborhood and Nick’s were also ordered to evacuate. We were fortunate in that the flames threatening our homes and studios were extinguished by firefighters just in time, but many musicians and friends lost everything.”

“This distressing event and the sight of entire communities being devastated inspired Nick and me to collaborate on a compilation album to raise funds for those less fortunate. We reached out to our musician friends for their unreleased gems, and the response was overwhelming! Artists such as PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker, Primal Scream, Gary Numan, and Devo quickly stepped forward to support.”
