Emma-Jean Thackray teams up with Kassa Overall for her new single ‘It’s Okay’.
The London-based artist navigates the space between jazz improvisation and the vibrancy of club culture, giving her work a distinctive flair. Scheduled for release on April 25th, the new album ‘Weirdo’ is expansive and features an array of impressive collaborators.
The new track ‘It’s Okay’ merges Emma-Jean Thackray’s exceptional compositional approach with Kassa Overall's soothing and articulate delivery.
‘It’s Okay’ is a calming composition that transcends genres, with Emma-Jean Thackray explaining…
“This is a lullaby for anyone in need of comfort – a hug or a gentle touch. I’ve found it quite challenging to connect with the trumpet lately, so there isn’t much brass on the album. The instances where brass is present truly reflect my emotions, making the trumpet solo in the bridge particularly revealing. Kassa is a fellow weirdo who fully communicated the sentiment. The message for all listeners is that no matter what occurs, ‘it’s okay’; or perhaps it’s a reminder to myself.”
