New York-based band Triathalon is set to release their latest album, ‘Funeral Music’, on May 16th through Lex Records.
The band, consisting of Adam Intrator, Chad Chilton, and Hunter Jayne, has offered a glimpse of their new work with ‘RIP’ – a tribute to the ‘90s grunge-rock scene that sparked teenage enthusiasm, drawing inspiration from bands like Nirvana, Deftones, and Pearl Jam.
Adam Intrator shares, “The goal for ‘RIP’ was to evoke the feelings of hearing a late ’90s rock song for the first time as a child in the backseat of your parents’ car, wishing to turn it up louder. ‘RIP’ carries a dual meaning; it symbolizes both death and rebirth.”
‘Funeral Music’ marks Triathalon’s fifth album, arriving three years after ‘Spin’, which captured a band navigating the space between vivid dreams and reality, characterized by distorted guitar riffs, reverberated vocals, and deep sound-system breakdowns.
The concept for their new album began when the band envisioned the music they'd want played at their funerals. By consistently invoking the phrase “play this at my funeral” during the writing and recording process, the album became an embodiment of that idea.
