Melbourne's Sex Mask Strike Intensifies with 'Beheadal'

      Unyielding post-punk noise...

Melbourne band Sex Mask has released their intense new single ‘Beheadal’.

The group’s daring sound fuses wild elements of post-punk—similar to early records by The Birthday Party or The Pop Group—with cold wave, creating a product that is both clinical and savage.

In live performances, they are a formidable presence, merging artistic events with aggressive sonic experiences.

Alongside the re-issue of their track ‘Birds’, Sex Mask is also introducing something fresh, revealing a double A-side seven-inch single.

Now available, ‘Beheadal’ delivers an all-out sonic barrage, with Sex Mask pushing the limits as the needle hits the red; it features sharp electronics that retain an organic vibe, and the trio channels a Fat White Family-esque fervor within its sub-two-minute duration.

Regarding their new single, frontman Wry Gray states…

’Beheadal’ explores the theme of honest communication, even when it reveals uncomfortable truths. It delves into the destructive power of those truths. While it may sound harsh, it emphasizes authenticity. Through self-hypnosis, I managed to tap into the reservoir beneath my consciousness, leading to a painstaking process that lasted a full fifteen minutes.
