New Zealand songwriter Jesse Will expresses his emotions in his new single ‘Hold My Skin.’
He first garnered attention a decade ago when Taylor Swift shared his soulful rendition of ‘Shake It Off’ on her social media, which quickly went viral. Fans soon discovered his debut EP from 2013, but Jesse stepped away from the spotlight following his 2015 release ‘Every Thread.’
After releasing a live EP in 2021, he has been gently nurturing his creativity as he prepares for this new phase.
Often likened to Ben Howard or Damien Rice for his subtle style, Jesse collaborated with esteemed producer Chris Bond in the studio, enhancing his songwriting.
Now available, ‘Hold My Skin’ marks his powerful comeback – a heartfelt expression dealing with conflict and its numbing aftermath.
Meticulously crafted, Jesse Will's artistic touch shines in this confidently written piece. He remarks…
“I was intrigued by the conflict that arises when someone is vulnerable; human touch can offer comfort but also inflict further pain – this theme was ultimately represented in Sofia’s choreography for the video. Opening up poses a challenge for me, which contradicts my role as a songwriter. Thus, male vulnerability is at the core – a man who has been traumatized and yearns for love yet struggles to give it back.”
An exquisite video, choreographed by Sofia Pomeroy, accompanies the single – check it out below.
