Newcastle songwriter Ruth Lyon has revealed her plans for her upcoming album, ‘Poems & Non-Fiction.’
The artist has garnered acclaim for her impactful performances at significant showcase events such as SXSW and The Great Escape, and she continued to gain momentum at Glastonbury.
Always innovative, Ruth Lyon has proven her ability to cross artistic boundaries and was awarded the 2024 Danny Award, an annual international honor recognizing the talents of musicians with disabilities.
Her new album ‘Poems & Non-Fiction’ was created in collaboration with John Parish, a respected figure known for working with artists like PJ Harvey and Aldous Harding, among others.
Set for release on June 13th, she shares…
“I have surprised myself with the raw honesty found in these songs and I hope these stories bring about healing and growth…”
The new single ‘Books’ delves into some key themes of the album, showcasing Ruth’s literate indie-folk style with a gentle touch.
She explains…
“I envisioned my life as a series of poems and non-fiction (which, if you think about it, life truly is) that at times have felt unreadable, overwhelming, impenetrable, nonsensical, and unreal—a collection I’ll never have the chance to read. I shot the video in my home—it’s my sanctuary, a place where I can explore my inner life, a space where I feel free to imagine and write my own narrative, rather than just read it.”
Tune in now.
