SOFT PLAY has announced the upcoming release of a deluxe version of their 2024 LP ‘HEAVY JELLY,’ titled ‘HEAVIER JELLY,’ set for 18th April. They unveiled this news with an exciting collaboration featuring Kate Nash. The new track ‘Slushy’ marks Kate’s second collaboration with drummer and vocalist Isaac Holman, the first being when she contributed vocals to a song for his Baby Dave solo project. In this track, the duo engages in a lively exchange, backed by a dynamic garage rock foundation. Besides ‘Slushy,’ ‘HEAVIER JELLY’ will include five additional tracks that belong to the original album's atmosphere: ‘Heavy Jelly,’ ‘Take Me To The Tip,’ and ‘Chairman Of The Council’ were all crafted around the same period but were not included due to their more experimental sounds; while ‘Flip ‘em The Bird’ and ‘Green Lambourgini’ embody the essence of SOFT PLAY. Guitarist Laurie Vincent described these songs as “the illegitimate offspring of ‘Heavy Jelly,’ odd experiments/delusions that didn’t conform to the standard.” You can grab an archive copy of our 2024 Festival Guide featuring SOFT PLAY here, and listen to ‘Slushy’ below.
