Late Night Drive Home has revealed the details of their debut album, titled ‘As I Watch My Life Online.’
The band embodies the spirit of the internet, and the online world's unique ability to connect individuals has played a significant role in shaping their early identity. Over time, Late Drive Home has evolved, learning to view themselves from various perspectives.
This evolution is reflected in their songwriting, which features vibrant, pop-driven compositions that both embrace and critique the principles of virality.
Their debut album, ‘As I Watch My Life Online,’ is set to be released on June 27th through the esteemed label Epitaph.
“The record critiques and serves as a meta reflection of today's online environment: a new domain or a massive united entity connecting us across cities, compelling us to remain online. Instant gratification is easily accessible — likes, follows, and entertainment are just a click away,” explains guitarist Juan “Ockz” Vargas. “It expresses how we experienced the growth of the internet during its peak — how we witnessed its evolution. Our aim is to share our perspective on the internet while creating art in conjunction with it.”
“Being over-exposed and over-stimulated has left us desensitized to what is genuine and what is contrived, numb to life's simpler aspects,” adds lead singer Andre Portillo. “This relentless craving for more has become a Pandora’s box in our modern era. I’m captivated by you, you mean everything to me, and without you, I would see a different reflection in the mirror. You’ve shaped me. You’ve broken me. At times, I question why I can’t exist without you.”
Their new single ‘Terabyte’ is an example of forward-looking pop that encapsulates the group’s manifesto — consistently evolving yet perpetually captivating, it presents a vibrantly bold statement.
