After providing us with glimpses of her new era in recent months, Joy Crookes has released another fresh track, titled ‘I Know You’d Kill’. This sultry number draws inspiration from the trusting relationship she has with her manager. Joy recounts how the idea for the song originated during her time at Glastonbury: “’I Know You’d Kill’ is a song I wrote for my manager, Charlie, because I was experiencing a wild trip at Glastonbury and thought someone in our group was a threat,” she explains. “I was so anxious I nearly cried. To comfort me, she said, ‘you know Nay (a friend of Joy’s) and I would kill for you’. My intoxication, her support, and my trust in her made her appear almost shining. I couldn’t even look at her because she was literally glittering.”
This track follows her recent works, including the Kano collaboration ‘Mathematics’ and her comeback single ‘Pass The Salt’, which features Vince Staples. All of these releases come after her 2021 Mercury Prize-nominated debut, ‘Skin’. Additionally, Joy has recently announced her return to Glastonbury Festival this June, hoping for more inspiration during her visit, and she's also set to perform at this year’s BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool.
