Little Simz has unveiled a second preview of her upcoming album ‘Lotus’, combining rich production and sweeping strings with a love-infused flow in her new single ‘Free’. Initially written as a poem, the song reflects on the intertwined nature of love and fear, capturing the essence of her sixth album's themes of renewal and growth, represented by the lotus flower in its title. Set to release on 9th May through AWAL, this eagerly awaited album was first introduced last month with ‘Flood’—a striking collaboration with Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly that also provided an intriguing glimpse into the visual realm of ‘Lotus’. Additionally, Simz has recently been named the curator for The Southbank Centre’s contemporary music festival Meltdown in 2025, featuring performances from artists such as The Streets, Sasha Keable, Lola Young, Ghetts, Jon Baptiste, and herself over the festival's 11-day period. You can learn more about Meltdown here and listen to ‘Free’ below.
