MRCY Reflects on Their Hometowns with ‘Wandering Attention’

Introspective alt-soul from the UK duo...

MRCY have released their latest single ‘Wandering Attention’ in its entirety.

The alt-soul pair consistently impress, fusing a retro-modern sound that merges R&B influences with production inspired by the energy of club environments.

Their new project ‘Volume 2’ will be released on May 30th through Dead Oceans and addresses the darkness present in our daily lives. The duo states, “We’re aiming to replace fear with optimism and worry with love.”

Barney Lister and Kojo Degraft-Johnson tap into their roots on ‘Wandering Attention,’ which reflects on small-town life, capturing both the joys and limitations of their upbringing.

With a softly nostalgic tone, the emotive vocal delivery is accompanied by a delicate arrangement that exemplifies audio artistry.

      MRCY remarks…

“The track reflects on the hometowns we were raised in, addressing some of the more challenging aspects—both environmental and emotional. It delves into the notion that, although those experiences shape us, they do not completely define our identities. We have evolved and transformed as individuals since that time.”

Catch MRCY on tour this Spring, including a headlining show at London’s Islington Assembly Hall on May 29th.
