Gogo Penguin will launch their new album ‘Necessary Fictions’ on June 20th.
The experimental group from Manchester combines the freedom of jazz with electronic elements reminiscent of club music, crafting immersive soundscapes. With ‘Necessary Fictions’, Gogo Penguin continues to evolve, integrating new influences along the way.
Scheduled for release on June 20th, ‘Necessary Fictions’ incorporates imagery of Manchester's iconic Toast Rack building, a true landmark featured in the album cover.
In a message introducing the album, the band shares…
“‘Necessary Fictions’ reflects our journey of removing the mask to reveal our true selves — both as individuals and as a collective.”
Their new single ‘Fallowfield Loops’ is available now, offering a spacious sound that showcases the group's distinct audio painting style.
Gogo Penguin remarks…
“It carries a subtle sadness, yet embodies rhythm and momentum — a feeling of progression. The title references a hidden greenway close to our home in South Manchester — an old railway transformed into a serene urban retreat.”
The accompanying video, directed by pianist Chris Illingworth and bassist Nick Blacka, is now available online and prominently features the Toast Rack building.
