Stream: “Suzette” – Nami
Bright, lively, and incredibly memorable, Nami's third single, “Suzette,” immediately captures attention with its playful charm and vibrant energy.
Fuelled by the exhilarating rush of desire, the song exudes a carefree spontaneity that encapsulates the excitement and madness of pursuing someone perceived as just out of reach. With addictive melodies and subtly cheeky lyrics, “Suzette” turns longing into an irresistibly danceable experience.
“‘Suzette’ is an energetic track,” Nami reveals to Atwood Magazine. “My inspirations combined to shape this tune, and I aimed to make it as catchy as possible. I take pride in it; it reflects your pursuit of the girl – if you look closely at the lyrics, it can seem a bit creepy, and that was intentional – some of my favorite songs have that slightly creepy edge,” he laughs.
Suzette – Nami
I noticed your lovely eyes
As you passed me by, yeah
Just give me a sign
And I will make you mine (oooh)
You know you want me too
All the time, (yeah all the time)
But you remain uncertain
Leaving me waiting in line
Driven by a raw, unfiltered passion, “Suzette” is both spirited and intense: “Suzette, I haven’t caught you yet, but nobody’s taking you from me,” Nami sings in the song’s infectious, emotionally charged chorus, reminiscent of the King of Pop himself. “Suzette, I’ll lose my breath if you keep running away from me.”
‘Cause you are, yes you are
The only one for me
Baby can’t you see?
Suzette (Suzette)
I haven’t caught you yet
But nobody’s taking you from me
Suzette (Suzette)
I’ll lose my breath
If you keep running away from me
Nami crafts an entrancing soundscape, expertly balancing rich instrumentation with moments of unvarnished, candid honesty.
The song’s lively rhythm and dynamic chord shifts push listeners forward, reflecting the emotional push-and-pull woven into its story. While “Suzette” is entirely fictional – more an alluring concept than a tangible individual – Nami skillfully channels feelings of hopeful anticipation and playful obsession into a track that is both sweetly seductive and delightfully quirky.
Now based in LA, Nami modestly identifies as a student first and artist second, highlighting his curiosity and enthusiasm for creative exploration.
“I design things, and I enjoy discussing everything and anything,” explains the record producer, designer, and songwriter. “I don’t see a divide between me and my artist persona, which might be seen as unhealthy to others, but it feels fine to me.”
She brought me down to my knees
I’m pleading and begging her, please
Oooh wee, oooh weeee
She runs through my mind on repeat
Ah, no one else can compete
Oooh wee, oooh weeee
Although he has been a sound designer and co-producer for globally acclaimed artists like Ariana Grande, Bryson Tiller, Jack Harlow, and Cordae, his personal artist journey is just beginning – he released his debut single “Northstar” in January, followed by “Connoisseur” on Valentine’s Day, “Suzette” in mid-March, and “Heaven” – his latest offering – in early April.
“Suzette” holds a special place in Nami's heart as one of his most upbeat and fast-paced tracks, illustrating his creative ambition to produce something instantly memorable and joyfully addictive.
“I want people to enjoy it for years,” he smiles. “There’s a lot of detail in my music, some of which is more noticeable than others, but all reveal themselves in their own time. I invested significant energy and time into producing it. My main focus was keeping the principal melody throughout the track, and then Buddy Ross introduced that remarkable chord progression in the pre-chorus, which truly elevated the concept.”
“A lot of the elements remained raw and unpolished! That’s one of my favorite aspects of my album. There were ample opportunities to produce a polished, overly corrected version of all the songs, but I intentionally opted for a softer, alternative approach.”
“Suzette” is pure enjoyment, serving as a fantastic introduction to an artist – or rather, a student – with a bright and promising future. With its bold, uplifting beats and captivating melodies, Nami's third release is an instant singalong, encouraging listeners to immerse themselves in its lighthearted spirit. With
