From the chaotic opening ‘FRANCES’ to the intense intricacies of the concluding track ‘CHUNKS’, the second EP from Bristol's MOULD offers a challenging yet thoroughly engaging sonic experience across its six tracks. Along the way, there are some creative narratives (for instance, a snail's dietary preferences) and a few surprising moments: check out ‘TEMPS’, which begins with a descending guitar riff before eventually settling—within the bounds MOULD allows—into a consistently clever critique; or ‘WHEEZE’, a two-minute frenzy complete with an additional brass section. Most notably, ‘Almost Feels Like Purpose’ demonstrates the band's development: whether unleashing powerful noise or carefully navigating an off-kilter breakdown, MOULD is unified in their intention—to enjoy themselves. With this, they have effectively crafted their unsettling yet captivating style.
