South London artist Venna has released a new single titled ‘My Way’ today.
Following his recent track ‘Prophet’, Venna's introspective journey is brought to life in this romantic dream that evokes the essence of a dreamy summer evening. Recorded just as the saxophonist and producer believed he had completed his upcoming album, ‘My Way’ showcases Venna’s increasing confidence in his musical abilities, placing his vocals prominently in the mix.
Regarding the release, which was recorded and produced over several months, Venna states: "Does anyone truly have the right words to express? I’m not sure. I don’t know if I had the words to express. I just summoned words and thoughts and aimed to create art from it.”
He adds: “It represents the importance of always searching, even when you think you’ve discovered everything you were seeking. ‘My Way’ is a challenging record for me because it’s really the first time I’m singing as the lead, rather than adding to the music. I encountered a producer named Will Commodo last summer, and he had the instrumental on his Instagram. I sent him a DM, and when we met, ‘My Way’ was the only instrumental I wanted to hear. I wrote to it in those first moments of listening, and the rest is history.”
Check out the visual for ‘My Way’ directed by Yen Espinoza, showcasing Venna and his love interest as they explore the streets of New York City together.
