Pontus Krusing discusses contemporary travel necessities, the experience of ambient flights, and NUDIENT’s daring luggage collection.

Stockholm-based lifestyle brand NUDIENT is venturing into the travel sector with the debut of its first luggage collection.

Established in 2016 by childhood friends Pontus Krusing, Max Andersson, and Vidar Sjöqvist, the brand has gained a reputation for merging luxury design with functional everyday essentials and tech accessories. As NUDIENT approaches its tenth anniversary next year, it is evolving to create larger and more impressive products while maintaining its core values of precise functionality and elegant, sleek design.

Named the ‘Bold Luggage Collection,’ this new travel line is bold in both craftsmanship and design. Each item is constructed from aerospace-grade German polycarbonate and recycled plastic for lightweight durability, combined with Japanese-engineered Hinomoto XL ball-bearing wheels for a smooth and quiet experience. The collection features both cabin and check-in suitcases that meet various airline regulations and include multiple compartments for optimal organization during travel.

The design is streamlined, influenced by traditional Scandinavian minimalism. Each case is monochrome with unique irregular lines, which Pontus Krusing describes as “an abstract reference to the rhythm and structure of a Swedish birch forest.” He adds, “It’s essentially a fusion of serene Scandinavian minimalism and the richness of global travel.”

We spoke with Krusing about NUDIENT's evolving path as a brand focused on refining the everyday, and what it takes to redefine luggage for the contemporary traveler. He notes that the brand's almost seamless evolution is born from a passion for travel, which is apparent in the thoughtful design.

The collection features two styles: the ‘Bold Cabin Bag’ and the larger ‘Bold Check-In Bag,’ both of which are currently available in four color options at nudient.com.

Sabrina Soormally: This new collection represents a significant shift for NUDIENT, as you're entering the luggage market—could you explain the rationale behind this expansion?

Pontus Krusing: Certainly. NUDIENT has always aimed to enhance the everyday through design, and travel felt like a natural next step. We wanted to take the design and precision we’ve honed in our tech accessories and extend it to something larger; movement, exploration, and transition. This collection reinterprets the travel experience with the same minimalism and functionality we’re known for, but with a new aim: to be a genuine companion on your journey.

Could you elaborate on your vision for the aesthetics of the luggage? It all appears very sleek and embodies traditional Scandi minimalism.

The Bold luggage collection carries on our visual narrative with distinctive, irregular lines that abstractly reflect the rhythm and structure of a Swedish birch forest. While it is grounded in Scandinavian minimalism, the design has also been influenced by our global experiences. Essentially, it’s a combination of tranquil Scandinavian minimalism and the richness of travel worldwide.

What do you aim to contribute to the travel industry with NUDIENT luggage?

Our ambition is to redefine what modern luggage looks like—through a design that intuitively assists your journey. We’ve considered common challenges: packing, navigating airports, and flying with different airlines. NUDIENT luggage isn't just about your destination but also about your travel experience and emotions along the way. It aims to create a more fluid and aesthetically pleasing travel journey.

Do you find pleasure in the process of traveling?

Absolutely. There’s something meditative about the rhythm of travel, as it immerses you in the present. It's not merely about the destination; it's about the change in perspective and the calm that comes with movement. I find inspiration in airports, observing people, and watching how others navigate the world.

What activities do you engage in during a flight?

I like to treat flights as a chance to hit the pause button. It's often the only time I'm completely offline, allowing me to reset—whether through journaling, catching up on reading, listening to full albums instead of playlists, or simply gazing out the window. I enjoy the feeling of being suspended between places; it’s creatively freeing.

You’ve designed the luggage for organized travel with multiple compartments. What's inside your travel bag?

I always pack the essentials: my laptop, a slim notebook, AirPods Max (as well as AirPods Pro), a nourishing hand balm, and a good book. I also carry a small pouch with chargers and cables.

      What’s next for NUDIENT?

We are just beginning. Our goal is to continue developing a universe around modern travel—products that accompany you through work, leisure, and adventure. You can expect more innovations that build on this philosophy. The journey is definitely ongoing.

The collection features two styles: the ‘Bold Cabin Bag’ and the larger ‘Bold Check-In Bag,’ which are currently available in four colors at nudient.com.
