Jessica Winter has shared another preview of ‘My First Album’, set for release on July 11th, along with a Tim Burton-inspired visualizer for the new track. Contrary to any associations with the Spice Girls, ‘Wannabe’ is a more pared-down, reflective piece that reveals a more contemplative side of Winter than her earlier singles ‘L.O.V.E.’ and ‘All I Ever Really Wanted’. “I wrote this song after a long session of doom scrolling,” the alt-pop artist explained. “[I] became tired of feeling inferior and the constant comparisons. This song serves as a friendly reminder to stay in your own lane and to acknowledge that you are just as unique as everyone else.” The song is accompanied by a video directed by Roger Spy, where Jessica embodies her inner Edward Scissorhands to recreate the memorable hair-cutting scene from the 1990 film.
